Good Change versus God Change. Where Are You?

The Baby Chronicles - Where You Were Before You Were by Beatrice Bruno

New Christian Thriller by Beatrice Bruno

Let’s talk about Good Change versus God Change.

I made a decision to follow the Lord and learn about marketing/promotion at the beginning of 2017. Writing The Baby Chronicles – Where You Were Before You Were, was easy. The challenging part for me was promoting the book and helping folks find it.

How my change began…

On March 2, I began my first book tour. While in Missouri, I pushed myself forward and promoted my book every chance I got. The result? I sold every copy of The Baby Chronicles I had with me plus! And it felt great!

This was a God Change for me. I changed my perception of marketing and promotion. I became the marketer/promoter I needed to be. God gave me a chance to shine. It was not as difficult as I made it.

We must decide within our selves: Good Change versus God Change. As born-again Christians, we align any changes we make with God. We decide whether it is good change versus God Change.

Are you comfortable where you are?

Good change is an indirect result of being uncomfortable. We do things differently to create as little discomfort as possible. However, when we go return to our old ways, we discover we are making a change God has not ordained. We revert to the comfort zone and our old ways. Not good!

With God-changes, we stretch. We become all of what God called us to be. We change our perspective. We become limitless. We perform His Word and will for our lives. We transform and move in ways pleasing to Him. He rewards us by manifesting His glory as we travel the path He intended for us. We are able to make the right choices.

Pray for me as I pray for you. God is faithful and able to perform!

Let Go of the PAST and Be Thankful

Give Thanks

Oftentimes, we look at our PAST, good and bad, and think to ourselves that we are glad..

that thing,

those trials and tribulations,

those tests

are over.

Today, I would like to present a different perspective to you.

Thanksgiving 2014

  1. If you experienced a childhood in which you were mistreated, rejected, neglected, discouraged, etc., do this today. Thank God that you made it through the treatment and that He has taught you not to treat anyone else in this manner.
  2. If you have lost a loved one through death, or divorce, or relationship issues, do this. Thank God for the time you were allowed to spend with that person and the memories, good and bad, you shared. Thank God for the growth you experienced, the knowledge or education you received that will enable you to know what’s right moving forward.
  3. If you have lost a job due to forced reduction or downsizing, thank God for the experience you accrued that you can use either in your next position or in your own business.

Many times, we look at letting go of the PAST as a bad thing with connotations of things being wrong about our coming out. But, that’s not always the case.

Letting Go of the PAST doesn’t mean you didn’t live it. It means…

you made it through,

you survived,

you thrived in spite of it all!

Our PAST can be a catalyst for improving our outlook and perspectives in life… that is, if we will allow it to be this. PAST does not always mean something is bad. It can also mean that some things need to change.

Today and throughout this season of Thanksgiving, think on those things you have experienced and endured and find that Something you can be thankful for from the experience.

Be abundantly blessed! Happy Thanksgiving! #GodIsFaithful

Letting Go of the PAST – The Freedom of Forgiveness

Forgive and change the future Letting Go of the PAST and Forgiving provides us with elements of Freedom we should desire to experience on a daily basis!

After all, Letting Go of the PAST is not so much about the other person as it is about you! One of the things we need to recognize when we go through something that brings trauma into our lives is that we (our hearts, minds, and souls) become bruised from the intrusion of the transgression.

But, if we will allow ourselves, give ourselves permission to forgive, we will be able to experience the freedom of forgiveness in a new way!

Today, I invite you to revisit one of my previous posts about this subject. Click here.

Think about this:

  1. How many people do you know, personally or publicly, who seem to have so much baggage from the PAST in their lives, they find it hard to move forward?
  2. Do you notice in their conversation that they seem to say the same things over and over? Or,
  3. Every conversation seems to turn to them no matter how much work the person has to do to get the topic back on themselves.

My friend, this person needs help!

He or she is so emotionally bruised, they don’t know what to do. He or she thinks that by just continually talking about the subject, they are healing themselves.

That is simply not true!

Until this person can forgive, he or she can never walk in the freedom God created for him or her.

Do this with/for your friend:

  • Be honest with him or her. Don’t allow the person to walk in deception anymore. Even if the honesty will cause a breach in your relationship with the person.
  • Be honest with yourself. Has the PAST pain from the person become toxic in your life?
  • Help the person find some help. You will be doing a very valuable service for this precious soul.

The mission of The Drill Sergeant of Life is to help YOU get over self, get out of self’s way, let go of the PAST, and get what YOU want out of life! We hope this post has been beneficial to you today. If it resonates with you, please feel free to share.

Until next time! Be abundantly blessed! #GodIsFaithful

Letting Go of Your PAST: The Process…

Holding on to the past

The Process of Letting Go of Your PAST…

Don’t you wish life were just ABC and 123? Wouldn’t it be so simple if you had a plan for letting go of your past so you could grab hold of your awesome future?

Believe it or not, there is! And here is the process…

  1. Step one
  2. Prepare your heart and mind to let go.

  3. Step two
  4. Prepare your life to let go.

  5. Step three
  6. Choose to experience the newness that letting go will bring.

  7. Step four
  8. Gain a different perspective because you are letting go.

  9. Step five
  10. Enjoy the new journey that life offers because you are letting go.

Everything is a process! In order for you to enjoy scrambled eggs for breakfast, you must follow a process.

scrambled eggs

You can’t just place two eggs in a skillet and turn the stove on and expect scrambled eggs! First of all, you must crack open the eggs! If you just place two whole eggs in the skillet and turn on the heat, all you are going to enjoy is cleaning up a mess!

And that’s what your life will become if you don’t follow a distinct, specific process of letting go of your PAST. Each step has to be taken seriously and on purpose so you can reach your goal.

Although the above steps may seem simplistic, and it may seem as though you can skip step three and move forward to step four, don’t do it! Each step is designed for you to process and progress so you may achieve the optimal results of letting go of your PAST.

The desire of The Drill Sergeant of Life is that you walk in personal Power, Productivity, and Prosperity. Our posts about the Process of Letting Go of Your PAST will enable you to move forward in your quest as never before. If you are finding benefit from our posts, please feel free to pass them along to someone who may not be at the level of letting go of the PAST that you are!

Stay tuned! The BEST is yet to come! God is faithful!

Letting Go of the P.A.S.T. and Beyond

Life is too short to hold on to the P.A.S.T.

I know that’s a pretty bold statement, but it is true!

You see, our P.A.S.T. is designed to keep us in the place where we won’t progress. If anything, we will regress. But, I digress.

Let me explain my acronym P.A.S.T.: People, Places, Possibilities And Situations (that should be) Terminated in our lives. Many of you have some P.A.S.T. in your lives. We all do. Unfortunately, we simply don’t want to admit it.

You see, it’s quite comfortable to allow P.A.S.T. to remain because it is… well, comfortable! That’s what we know. That’s what we have already experienced. That’s what we allow to keep us in the place of mediocrity because it’s too hard to come out. But I don’t want you to live like that!

Lately, I have been meeting a lot of hurting people. These precious folks have been through so much! Unfortunately, many of them have just about given up on ever receiving healing or wholeness because they have allowed the hurt to languish in their lives, giving them a false sense of security! I know! I’ve been one of those.

Just recently, God showed me that I was not healed from some hurts I had experienced. Unfortunately, the hurts had occurred in the church setting. The way He showed this to me caused me to open my eyes to those around me who were dealing with some of the same hurts. What He also showed me, though, was that I was hurt so deeply, I didn’t even realize the depth of the hurt I had experienced and was experiencing!

Does this resonate with you? Have you been hurt so deeply that you have become numb to the pain and are trying to live life the best way you can? Will you let me help you? Please!

I don’t want another human being to have to go through this alone. Let me stand with you and help you Let Go of the P.A.S.T. so you can grab hold of the future God has prepared for you! God has revealed tips and strategies to help you Let Go of the P.A.S.T. and I want to share these with you!

I am here for you! Let me take the first step with you!

Bitter or Better? In 2014, the Choice is Yours! Part One

Has life taught you some things that others need to know about or learn from? Are you a completely different person from who you were 5, 10, 20 years ago? Believe it or not, the things you have experienced in life are currently being experienced by someone else. You were allowed to experience it first so you can go back and lend a hand to someone else. That’s what being The Drill Sergeant of Life means to me. I have been on the Battlefield of Life; still am on The Battlefield of Life. And now, I am here to help others make it through to the objective: freedom to be who you were called and created to be. So, Get Over Yourself, Get Out of Your Own Way and Get What YOU Want Out of Life!

About a year ago, I had to make a choice. I won’t give you the particulars but something happened that allowed me to see behind the veneer of someone I thought was a friend.

The situation devastated me: my heart hurt so badly, I really didn’t know if I was going to make it. The relationship ended, of course. But, the backlash from the entire situation gave me pause to think. At the time, I wanted to just give up on people. After all, people had given me many reasons to give up and turn inward. I had been hurt so much by others; I was ready to give up.

Then, the Lord brought me to a person in the Bible who had also been hurt. This lady had been hurt by life: first, her husband died. Then, her sons died. She was left alone with two daughters-in-law and no visible means of support. She turned inward.

When asked, she even told people to not call her by her given name ‘Naomi’ anymore. She wanted to be called Mara, bitter.

Ruth 1:20 – 21 Call me not Naomi, call me Mara: for the Almighty hath dealt very bitterly with me. I went out full, and the Lord hath brought me home again empty; why then call ye me Naomi, seeing the Lord hath testified against me, and the Almighty hath afflicted me?

She finally persuaded one of her daughters-in-law to return to her family. After all, she told the young woman, even if she, Naomi, were to remarry and have another son, would Orpah stick around to perhaps marry the son that would come so long after she was already grown?

So, that particular daughter-in-law left Naomi and her sister-in-law, Ruth, and returned to her family. Ruth decided she would stick with her mother-in-law.

Where you go, I will go! Where you die, I will die! Your people will be my people! Your God will be my God!

Naomi had a reason to praise the Lord! This young woman owed her nothing! But, she loved her enough to stick with her. Whatever befell Naomi, Ruth was willing to allow the same to befall her.

Naomi remained bitter. She didn’t expect any good thing to happen in her life. God had taken her reason for living. Or so she thought!

That day concerning my friend was a turning point. I had the opportunity to either be bitter or Better.

If I chose bitter, it meant I had to walk around with a very unappealing look on my face, all the time. It meant I didn’t trust God to turn my situation around. In other words, I had no hope!

But, I knew better than that! I know that God is a righteous God! He is my glory and the lifter up of my head. He is a very present help in trouble. Regardless of what a person had done to me, I had to dig deep and remember those things God had done for me! I had to look back through my life to the blessings God had already performed in my life. I had to decide to be Better instead of Bitter!

What about you? Have you had instances in your life in which you had to make a choice between bitter and better? What did those experiences do to you? Were you able to jump from one to the other and look back and see the good that had happened? Or, are you still struggling?

Everything you have gone through in life was created to make you better, not bitter. Use those experiences to help others see past their circumstances and rise up to be who they were created to be. Use your pain and tragedies to push yourself and others forward. We need you. We believe in you. Now, you believe in you!

Be abundantly thankful and blessed! God is faithful!
